As the Boys & Girls Club of the Perham Area leadership team, it’s hard not to smile when we think back to one of the most heartwarming (and delicious!) highlights of our year—the 2026 Giving Hearts Day Baked Potato Bar.
On a day much like today, cold, blustery, and unmistakably Minnesota winter, we find ourselves reminiscing about the incredible energy, generosity, and community spirit that filled our Club just one month ago. It may feel like a distant memory, but the impact is still very much alive.
This year’s Baked Potato Bar, featuring the fan-favorite creations from Spanky’s Stone Hearth, was nothing short of extraordinary. Thanks to the overwhelming support of our community, we more than doubled the number of potatoes served compared to previous years. From to-go orders to delivery requests, the response was immediate, enthusiastic, and deeply appreciated.
What made this event especially meaningful was not just the numbers, but the experience. One supporter shared a message that perfectly captured the spirit of the day:
“Please commend your team, and anyone else involved in the potato chaos. Everyone was welcoming, smiley, and seemed genuinely happy and excited to be there. You all are a well-oiled machine! I can’t wait for next year. I can’t leave out Spanky’s…the potatoes, and all the fixings, are delicious!!!”
That feedback reflects exactly what we strive to create, not just a fundraiser, but a moment of connection. A moment where people feel welcomed, valued, and part of something bigger.
We are especially grateful to our partners at Tuffy’s and Spanky’s Stone Hearth, whose support and culinary excellence helped elevate this event into something truly special. And to every individual, family, and business who placed an order, shared a post, or simply cheered us on, thank you. You made this event a success.
Giving Hearts Day is about more than one day of giving. It’s about sustaining opportunities for the youth we serve, providing safe spaces, mentorship, meals, and life-changing programs. Events like the Baked Potato Bar play a critical role in making that possible.
